Hello Morning Star Family,
We weep together in hard times and celebrate in good times. As we pray and participate in this month’s Global & Local Partnerships we honor Christ together. These are all things you and your family, friends or Life Group can do together. Thank you for being part of what God is doing in our community!
Global Partner Jeff and Sarah – Every fall our organization, International Literacy and Development, holds an online fundraising event. Register for the Virtual Event and kick back on the sofa on the 5th of October at 5:30 pm pacific time to watch.

MIKE SILVA – Please continue to pray for our Global Partner, Mike Silva. As we’ve been praying for his daughter, Jenna, and her cancer diagnosis for the last 3.5 years. She has recently completed her race here on earth and is now with Jesus. Here is the update from Mike:
It’s with heavy hearts that we share the news that our beloved Jenna has gone home to be with Jesus on Friday, September 20th. After a courageous battle with cancer, she is now in the presence of her Savior, free from pain and full of peace. Though we are grieving the incredible loss, we anchor our hope in the Scripture’s promise from 2 Corinthians 5:8, ‘to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.’
Jenna’s life was marked by her radiant joy, her love for us—her friends and family— and her devotion to sharing the love of Jesus with the world. We are so proud and grateful that Jenna finished her race by staying true to her calling in a way only Jenna could.
Her Celebration of Life will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Bend, Oregon on Friday, October 4th at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow. More details to come. All family, friends, and ministry partners are invited to attend.
We are deeply grateful for your prayers, support, and love over the past several years. We hold onto the promise that, though we grieve, we do not grieve without hope (1 Thessalonians 4:13), for we will see Jenna again in the presence of our Lord.

Local Partner Hope Pregnancy Clinic is having their FALL DESSERT fundraiser on Saturday October 19, 2024 at the Salem Convention Center.
Reception at 6:30 pm; Program at 7:00 pm
October is Respect Life Month and it is a great time to hear stories of lives changed by the great work at Hope Pregnancy. Pastor Jared is hosting a table at this fundraiser so please email jared@mstar.church to join him at his table!
Our Global Partner Jeremy Tice will be visiting our church for the first time. in many years! We are so excited to see him and for you to be able to get to know him as we learn about their ministry. This Q&A dinner is on Sunday 10/20 at 5 pm at the church. Join us to hear about their ministry and to encourage and support them. Jeremy and Mindie have served all over Africa and Europe and are currently Missionaries in residence at Bethel University in Mishawaka, Indiana as they equip and train the next generation to receive the baton as missionaries to be sent across the world to proclaim the Good News of Jesus.
Local Partner Salem Free Clinics is having their 2024 Fall Fundraiser on Thursday, October 24 on the 2nd floor of Broadway Commons! We look forward to meeting you and sharing more about our mission and its importance to the community.
This is a FREE event to the community! The event consists of a complimentary meal, information about our services, powerful patient testimonials, a donation ask, and a clinic tour if you are interested.
