Monthly Missions Update
October 2024
Volume 1, Issue 10
Hello Morning Star Family,
We’ve got some great opportunities this month to be part of what God is doing in the Refugee community as we help our new neighbors. Also check out what God is doing in Gen Z when our new MStar Podcast episode is released soon with Global Partner Jeremy Tice. These are all things you and your family, friends or Life Group can do together. Thank you for being part of what God is doing in our community!
Local Partner, Salem for Refugees – Thrive
The “THRIVE” event is an annual fundraiser hosted by Salem For Refugees to celebrate the impact of the community on refugee resettlement. It highlights powerful stories, accomplishments, and offers opportunities to support the organization’s mission. This year’s event takes place in Salem and Corvallis, with the goal of raising $200,000 to help refugees thrive. Attendees will enjoy food prepared by new neighbors and learn about the organization’s ongoing vision for resettlement.
You can join us as we will be hosting a table at this free event on Friday November 15 at 6 pm. Please email jared@mstar.church to get yourself registered.
Global Partner, Jeremy Tice
We would like to thank everyone who attended the dinner for our Global Partner Jeremy Tice on October 20th. Don’t worry if you missed the dinner, there will be a podcast episode coming out soon where you can hear about what God is doing through his ministry. Jeremy’s missionary experience in West Africa and then Europe are filled with amazing stories of God’s provision, faithfulness and grace as well as some triumphs & tragedies along the way. Their new role as Missionaries in residence at Bethel University are bringing great fruit already as Generation Z is answering the call to GO and make disciples.
Salem for Refugees – Season of Giving
Have you wanted to be more proactive with our local partners but aren’t sure where to start? We are joining with our local partner, Salem for Refugees this fall for a Season of Giving. Morning Star invites you to help out it whatever way you can. Able to donate some loose change? Can you donate a gently used or new coat? Want to help with building a Restart kit or build a full Restart Kit as a Life Group or with friends? All of these kits are for refugee families joining our community. When Salem For Refugees settles a new neighbor here, Restart Kits helps ease their transition with essentials like bedding, cleaning, and kitchen supplies. Visit the Salem For Refugees booth before or after service for more information in person or you can register online.
